Sources for mid-century house silhouettes

The 'sleepy mexican'.
Classic australiana, yet in this day and age... well... not the most politically correct thing to have on your house.

From Betties Collection, Etsy.

I admit to secretly loving the kitsch factor on the 'sleepy mexican' silhouette, however I can't bring myself to buy one for my fibro dream house (post about what I DID get, coming soon).

If however, you really want one (I won't judge!) there are a few places I've found who still make them:
Other house silhouettes to consider:
  • Flamingos
  • Palm trees
  • Parrots
  • Sailing ships (on water)
  • Cactus
Seen an unusual one? Let me know!

Welcome to Australiana Kitsch!

Here at AK, we're about documenting the mid-century kitsch that remains in our suburbs - before it's gone forever.

Tyre swans.

Metal silhouettes (palm trees and donkeys anyone)

Concrete flamingos and kangeroos.

The good, the kitsch, the oh-my-thats-rascist-I-can't-believe-they-did-that.
